About
The Undergraduate Journal in Agricultural and Applied Economics is an online, open-access, and peer-reviewed publication of the Student Section of the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association. The journal consists of agricultural and applied economics articles written and submitted by undergraduate students. Papers of high quality are accepted into the journal for publication. Accepted papers must be well-written, methodologically sound, and demonstrate a strong grasp of agricultural and applied economics with relevance to current agricultural issues.
Students are encouraged to apply research methods from their undergraduate coursework. Papers using basic analysis techniques such as mean comparisons are equally valued alongside those using advanced methods. This publication is not limited to research topics but could include case studies and market analysis.
The journal provides an excellent opportunity for students to list a professional publication on their resume. The articles are considered of peer-reviewed quality in that they are reviewed by established researchers and are deemed to address important agricultural and applied economic topics.
All research must be conducted under the supervision of an advisor at the student's institution. While advisors are welcome to provide research ideas, data, technical support, and editing, most of the data analysis and writing must be performed by the student.
The publication is online and open access through Agecon Search. The editor is Dr. Sierra Howry at University of Wisconsin-River Falls (sierra.howry@uwrf.edu) and the publication is published by the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association (AAEA). Ex-officio editor will be the SSAAEA senior advisor, English Ratliff at Mount Olive University (eratliff@umo.edu).
